Lewis C Morgan
MilitaryShot down 16-Aug-44 in B-17G 43-38000 while serving as Tail Gunner. The aircraft was attacked by fighters which set it on fire and detonated the bomb load causing the aircraft to disintegrate in mid-air. The remains of the aircraft felll near Lehna, Germany. Apparently enough of the tail section remained intact to enable Sgt Morgan to bale out. He was caputured as POW the only crew member to survive the event. Prisoner of War (POW)
