Shot down 1 December 1943 in B-24 #4263987. Killed in Action (KIA). From MIA report and POW's reports, he had his parachute off. Firing gun. Plane was hit, he was hit in leg. Couldn't get parachute on and when plane blew up he was still inside. Later found with other crew members, citizens buried them in mass grave in Herresbach, later disinterred.
