Junny Oliver Jackson

Military ROLL OF HONOUR

Killed in Action (KIA). Died May 28, 1944 on Mission 376 on his 9th mission over Germany. A/C was strafed and was going down. Pilot Lt William J Condon ordered all to bail out. Junny manned the upper turret to keep off German fighters to allow crew to bailout. Navigator went back on orders from pilot to ascertain all had bailed out saw Junny coming down from upper turret and while putting on his parachute was killed by strafing German fighter. Junny was killed instantly. This account was from a letter to my grandmother from the navigator who witnessed the incident.
