Died |
English Channel | 7 June 1944 | The night of June 7th, Lieut. Joseph H. Vivian of the 506th disappeared over the Channel. He was last seen at 2330 hours, on the last patrol of the day, at 3,000 feet and losing altitude, apparently experiencing difficulty keeping his ship in level flight. The homing station received a call from him 25 minutes later and gave him a steer. After that, contact was lost; a year later, with the unit in the throes of re-deployment, no further information from any source had been received about him, and he remained on the rolls as missing in action". |
