Shot down 17 April 1943 in B-17 42-29643. Crashed near Visbek SW of the target Bremen, Germany when A/C was damaged on the bomb run. Unable to stay with the squadron on the turn, fighters moved in, with the #2 engine on fire, Pilot Miller ordered a bailout and crew members survived and became Prisoners of War. Teare was Prisoner of War (POW) and imprisoned at Stalag Luft 3. This mission was a particularly hard loss for the 306th.
