Object Number - UPL 30639 - John Betten, 482nd Bomb Group.

John enlisted in the Air Corps in 1942 and in September 1943 shipped out on the 'Queen Elizabeth' one of 20,000 men on board. He joined the 482nd BG at Alconbury, his main duty loading bombs. Returning to the USA in July 1945 a spot was found on his lungs and he was medically discharged in April 1946, thereafter helping out on the family farm.
