James K Wenzel
MilitaryMIlitary records
James' death was announced in Ringmasters' Winter 1996.
He reported after the War that he had accomplished his primary goal - returning every crew member home safely after every mission.
In 2020, NOK Steve E. Wenzel, son, wrote a copyrighted 260 page biography entitled "Airborne Angel, James Keith Wenzel in WWII" which details JKW's WWII training experiences and combat service as a B-24 Pilot over Germany in WWII.
The Chronicle contains a detailed analysis of the November 26, 1944, 491st BG combat mission over Misburg, Germany. See Chronicle pages 78-89 and the Author's personal mission, crew and aircraft charts. On the Misburg mission, JKW flew the 'Airborne Angel' as 'Deputy Lead' for the 'low left' 854th BS. The chronicle is attached as Document "UPL 60979" and may be downloaded for personal and/or research use.
