James I Middleton

Military

Shot down on 16-Aug-44 in B-17G 44-6126 while serving as Radio Operator/Waist Gunner. Aircraft was attacked by fighters setting the bomb bay on fire which caused the aircraft to explode and break in two.T/Sgt Middelton was able to bale out of the stricken aircraft and was captured as POW. Aircraft crashed at Teistungen, Germany.
