17 August 1943 in B-17 #42-5712 'My Prayer' on mission to Schweinfurt, Germany, A/C attacked by fighters. With A/C afire, 7 of the crew bailed out near Frankfurt. Pilot Judy, Co-pilot Lays and Engineer Cherry stayed with the A/C and landed on the grass at RAF Manston, Kent.



James Judy was the pilot of 'My Prayer' on the Schweinfurt raid of 17th August 1943 when it was badly damaged and seven of the crew bailed out. The engineer was seriously wounded and Judy managed to bring the crippled plane back to Bassingbourn.



Shot down 9 October 1943 in B-17 #42-5178 'The Old Stand, and spent the rest of the war in Stalag Luft 111 as a Prisoner of War.



He re-joined the Air Force in 1947 but was sadly killed in 1955 flying a B-25 out of Mitchell Air Base.
