One Albert Richard Lakow signed his 18 December 1940 Draft Registration Card in Saint Louis, Missouri as born in New York City on 18 December 1904... (*) and mentioning his mother as Ida Lakow (whose name is next to that of Herbert R. Lakow in MACR 3132...) The card has him as living in Saint Louis at the time and working in Ipswitch, Massachusetts. NARA's WWII Enlistment Records list 1904 as the year of birth of Albert R. Lakow, with his residence as Kings County, New York... The WWII Casualties for Kings County list Herbert R. Lakow (O-796552). Bert Lakow was a substitute Navigator with the Lewis M. Miller crew on that fateful 6 September 1943 mission to Stuttgart on board B-17 #42-30234. Lt Miller's regular Navigator, Lt Eugene J. Morretti, was sick and couldn't fly that day. Herbert Lakow was Killed in Action (KIA).

(*) The SSDI has one Albert R. Lakow, born 18 December 1904 and who died in April 1989 ("Missouri"...) ??? And the US Census for 1940 have Herbert R. Lakow as Saul and Ida Lakow's son, born "in 1918", which clicks with the "aged 25" and "from Brooklyn" mentioned in "The Jewish Floridian" of 25 August 1944 with names of Killed In Action...
