Shot down 29 May 1943 in B-17 #42-3042. Plane crashed between Partenay-de-Bretagne and Clayes, nine miles NW of Rennes, Fr. Missing Air Crew Report 3984. Killed in Action (KIA). Have heard his plane crashed near Clayes, France--some crew members had parachuted out, remaining crew died when plane hit power lines trying to land and exploded/caught fire. Townspeople have put up a memorial with a photo of the plane and its crew.
