Lt. Frederick Maynard Merritt was assigned to the 1776 Ordnance Company at Thorpe Abbotts from April 2, 1944 to April 16, 1945. Merritt served as an ordnance officer, and then later as an armory/maintenance officer. (information provided by Merritt's daughter, Leora Merritt Worthington).
