Killed in Service (KIS) on 8 Feb 1944 when his B-17G #42-39977 'Hard to Get' crashed near Morley St Peter, Norfolk after takeoff during formup for a mission to Frankfurt-am-Main.
His wife was pregnant at the time. Three and a half months after his death, his son, Eno Compton III was born in New York. Eno III was raised by his mother Georgette and eventually became a pilot himself.
