Brockton, MA | 22 October 2007 | Emmet B. Fetherston Middleboro Emmet B. Fetherston, age 87 years, of Middleboro, died on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. Born in Dorchester, Jan. 5, 1919, he was a son of the late John and Lucy (Highland) Fetherston. Beloved husband of Evelyn (Tuite) Fetherston, they had been married for more than 60 years. He was retired from the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Brockton, where he worked for many years, and earlier was employed through the city of Boston, for the Water Department. He was a past member of the Disabled American Veterans and had served in the U.S. Army, as an airplane armorer gunner, during World War II. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and three Battle Stars. Survivors include his wife of 60 years; one son, Robert B. and his wife Karen Fetherston of Chicopee; two daughters, Nancy A. and her husband David Clay of Middleboro and Barbara L. and her husband Bill Crowell of Middleboro; two brothers, Dermot "Hank" Fetherston of Cape Cod and Godfrey Fetherston of Plymouth; one sister, Patricia Brady of Canton; grandfather of four; and great-grandfather of four; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Veronica Lane and Mary Fetherston. Private funeral services are being handled by the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St., Middleboro. Visiting hours have been omitted by request. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Boston Health Care Systems, c/o Ralph Marche, V.A. Boston Health Care Systems, 150 South Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 (specify Brockton VA), would be appreciated. |
