Fort Atkinson, WI, USA 30 March 2006 This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Elvis Brassfield who was born in Lake City, Iowa on November 7, 1920 and passed away in Fort Atkinson Wisconsin on March 30, 2006 at the age of 85. He married Dorothy Fowlie of Lake City, Iowa on September 18, 1943, in San Antonio Texas. He graduated from Lake City High School. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and did his training at various bases in Texas before being sent to England. There, with his crew, he flew as a nose gunner in a B24 for the 8th Air Force. They flew 35 missions over Germany. After discharge in 1945, he returned home and became a farmer. He and Dorothy raised four children. In 1964, he and his family moved to Wisconsin where they dairy farmed near Waterloo for eight years before moving to Jefferson in 1972. Elvis was Farm Manager at Countryside Home for six years until the farm operation closed, worked one year as a dairy equipment service mechanic for A-Z in Watertown, and worked 11 years as a service mechanic for John Deere Implement in Wales. Upon his retirement, he worked 8 years at the SuperWash in Jefferson. He was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Jefferson. He was a member of Endl-Gruennert Congressional Medal of Honor Veterans of Foreign Post 3589 of Jefferson and Reinhardt-Windl American Legion Post 164 of Jefferson. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, three sons, John (Elizabeth) Brassfield, David (Linda) Brassfield, Robert (Pamela) Brassfield and one daughter Diane (Philip) Meng. He has 2 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 2 step grandsons, 2 step granddaughters, 3 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren
