During operation Market Garden 17 Sep 1944 he had just been appointed commander of 63rd squadron’s B flight. Attacking the marshalling yard at Amersfoort his fuel tank was hit and exploded he pulled up and said he was heading south, then reported loss of oil pressure, nothing else was heard he was later reported killed.
