Lt Edward J Dvorak [L] and 2nd Lt Richard D Bishop [R] goofing off in front of Bishop's P-38 CY-B with a couple of practice bombs.
7/4/1944 ran off the end of runway at St Laurent-sur-Mer on the invasion beach-head in France as flak had shot out left engine, brakes and flaps. Nose gear collapsed as he skidded into a minefield. Met General Omar Bradley and returned to England with him.
