Burnt Hills, Ballston, NY 12027, USA 21 June 2012 Edward C. Mertzlufft, 87, of Burnt Hills, passed away peacefully at his home on June 21, 2012. Born in Buffalo NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Zenger Mertzlufft. Ed was a graduate of Syracuse University and worked in management for General Electric Co., where he spent time with his position in several areas in the eastern region of the United States. Ed was a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, where he was decorated with numerous citations and medals as a bombardier. Ed was married on June 14, 1947, to Elaine Kaiser, until her passing in 1995. Mr. Mertzlufft for many years was senior manager for employee relations in the Apparatus Service Division of General Electric Company in Schenectady. The Mertzlufft family has lived in the Burnt Hills area since 1974. Ed was a devout Catholic, always involved with his church and various ministries. He was a member of the Elfun Society and had much contact with past employees and friends over the years.
