Shot down on 16-Aug-44 in B-17G 44-6126 while serving as Bombardier. Aircraft was attacked by fighters setting the bomb bay on fire which caused the aircraft to explode and break in two. F/O Donley was able to bale out of the stricken aircraft and was captured (POW). Aircraft crashed near Teistungen, Germany.
