Lt. Donald Parker was killed in action on a mission to Gemuden Marshaling Yard, Germany on March 26, 1945 in "Weary Willie, II" piloted by Capt. Robert Flittie. Lt. Parker was in the nose of the aircraft with Lt. Victor Jacobs on a training mission, leaving too little room for either to wear flak jackets. Lt. Parker was killed instantly when a piece of shrapnel no larger than the eraser head of a pencil pierced his spine. For additional information and a photograph of the damaged aircraft see Marauder: Memoirs of a B-26 Pilot in Europe in World War II, Lou Rehr.
