Mission to Rouen. Heavy & accurate flak. Three aircraft of 452nd were lost. 2nd/Lt Everett G. Hanson, pilot, and 2nd/Lt James H Heinzen, co-pilot lost control when hit by direct flak. Went down near Boubrers, France. All crew were KIA except for L. W. Gunner S/Sgt Arthur Schulze who was captured - POW. Many of the crew were unrecognizable, found burned in the wreck. Donald Lyma is buried at St. Avold Cemetery, France.
