"Iowans of the Mighty Eighth", Chapter 26 "Biographies", by Charles D Taylor.
He was studying engineering when he enlisted in September 1942, completed Gunnery and Mechanics school and shipped to England in November 1944. He most memorable mission was the food drop to Holland, low enough to see the Dutch people waving their thanks. Discharged in November 1945 he worked as a construction engineer.
