Flew 22 combat missions. The 16th mission was a supply drop at low altitude and while dropping supplies he lost his balance and plunged toward the ball turret opening. An AP reporter - who was along as an observer- grabbed his harness and pulled him back to safety, saving his life.

Post war he was employed for many years at Cherokee Creamery and also worked part-time as a projectionist at the local movie theatre and at the Cherokee Community Centre.
