Shot down 8 October 1943 in B-17 42-5855, Prisoner of War. Bailing out of the plane over enemy territory, not knowing what happened to other crew members and what the future held. Living in Stalag XVII Prisoner of War camp with little food, heat, clothing, and medical assistance for 19 months. The forced march across Austria with no food and no shoes. Was liberated in a wooded area by the Americans. Then the trip home and adjustment to civilian life with so many memories.
