Military32 missions, Went to UK with 467th BG. Flew first 7 and transferred to 789th BS. Downed by flak 6 Aug 44 over Hamburg. Sent to Frankfurt for interrogation - Wetzler (Dulag Luft where officers/EM sent to their camps. Then to St. Wendig, Ger. to new Luft VI camp (Original Luft VI was East of Poland) After approx 1 month, put into boxcars and sent to Luft IV in Poland. On 6 Feb started 59 day walk to a town SSE of Hamburg. A two day boxcar ride to Fallingbostle (Stalag 11A) and held several days before war's end. Stayed in service as Airborne R/O until 1959, then became Loadmaster. Retired in 1966 with 24 years service. Plane was B-24 Flak Magnet #4129373
