Charles Boyer

Boyer enlisted in the Air Corps two days after Pearl Harbour and trained variously in Vegas and Wichita Falls before crewing up at Topeka. In February 1943 they flew their B-17 on northern route, losing an engine en route and spending 3 weeks in Ireland before joining the 93rd at Hardwick. That June they were attached to the 9thAF for the raids on the Ploesti Oil Fields. He flew on 25 combat missions in total, discharged in September '43 but called back during the Korean war. He later worked for an atomic energy plant in Colorado as Prototype Engineer.
