Benjamin Butler Barnes
Military ROLL OF HONOUROn the operational mission 5th Dec. 1944 Lt. Barnes helped to engage 60 plus FW 190's in the Berlin-Eberswalde area Germany. The squadron broke into elements and Lt. Barnes and his wingman started into a steep L. turn at about 18,000 ft. Lt. Barnes rolled into a R. turn to go into attack, when 5 FW190's attacked him and his wingman from 5 o'clock. The wingman called for Lt. Barnes to break and separated from him. Lt. Barnes was not seen after this. No R/T was received from him by either the Group or Wing Control. Killed in Action (KIA).
