August DeGenaro served as a pilot with the 78th Fighter Group.



He was Wounded in Action on 14 July 1943 in P-47 while escorting bombers to Amiens/Glisy, aircraft was damaged by FW 190's. Bailed out over Channel to be rescued by fishing boat 'Little Old Lady' and admitted to hospital for wounds and shock.
