Printed caption on reverse: 'Crashed Into Balloon Barrage Cable: Survived To Tell The Tale. Associated Press Photo Shows:- Lt. Arthur S. Waldron of 1595, Arthur Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, a photographic reconnaissance pilot, having struck a balloon barrage cable with coming home from a bombing mission, survived to tell the tale. With the aid of instructions raidoed by a British direction dinder operator finder [?], he landed safely at a R.A.F. base and thus was able to tell his tale. ASH (A).' Arthur Waldron served as pilot with the 7th Photo Recon Group. He survived striking a balloon barrage cable when coming home from a bombing mission in November 1943. On 5 February 1944, Waldron was flying a local test flight in F-5B #42-67326 when he reported that the aircraft was on fire. It crashed near Wroughton, Wiltshire and Waldron was killed.
He is buried in Cambridge American Cemetery.
