Arthur Waldron served as pilot with the 7th Photo Recon Group. He survived striking a balloon barrage cable when coming home from a bombing mission in November 1943. On 5 February 1944, Waldron was flying a local test flight in F-5B #42-67326 when he reported that the aircraft was on fire. It crashed near Wroughton, Wiltshire and Waldron was killed.

He is buried in Cambridge American Cemetery.
