Childress Army Airfield
Was born Bangor Maine, and entered service in January 1943. Accepted in Air Cadets in March 1943, Pre-flight Ellington Field, Houston, Texas, Gunnery School, Laredo, Texas, and bombardier School Childress. On Sixth mission, plane was shot down June 26th, 1944 during a raid in Vienna, Austria. Three survivors in crew immediately captured when they hit the ground. Arrived in Stalag Luft III in July, Sagan, Germany
