Joined RCAF in 1940. Shipped out to UK in 1943. Transferred from RCAF to USAAC in late 1943 or early 1944.



Killed in a flying accident on 11 June 1944 in Mosquito HR153 while serving on detachment with No 464 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force. Wakeman was departing for a sortie over Normandy in support of the invasion when his aircraft dived into the River Thames from a suspected engine failure.

RCAF Station Aylmer 16 March 1942 - 3 July 1942 He went to pilot finishing school at base called RCAF Aylmer, Ontario and he did his final training to be a pilot on COURSE 51 from March 16 - July 3, 1942. RCAF Aylmer flew an aircraft called a "Harvard" in Canada but it was called a "AT-6 or T-6" in the USA, it was an American made advanced trainer.
