Allen G O'Neal Jr

Military ROLL OF HONOUR

Killed in Action (KIA). In a letter to O'Neal's mother by Major Tom R Norris, dated 18 June 1945, he describes what happened: 'The aircraft which your son was navigating crashed on 1 January 1945 while taking off on an operational mission, and his funeral service was conducted with full Protestant rights at the American Military Cemetery located near Cambridge, England. The entire crew are interred there. Your son was an excellent navigator and he and his crew had a remarkable record. The loss to this organisation is keenly felt.'
