During take-off on 24 May 1944, 2Lt Robert W Bonynge struck a runway light, causing damage to the landing gear.



While airborne, pilot attempted to retract landing gear but was unable to do so. While airborne, aircraft also suffered a loss of power.



Pilot was forced to belly land on runway 28.
