Named MOJALAJAB by combining letters from the names of the four officers of the ferry crew: MoJaLaJab = Morris, Jackson, Lauten, Jaborski. This plane was obtained for the 492nd BG from the replacement depot to replace one of the earlier losses. Assigned to 858BS, 492BG, 8AF USAAF as a replacement aircraft. Failed to Return (FTR) Tours, France mission. 15 Jun 44: Lost w/McMurray Crew 801. Shot up by GAF, they limped to the Allied beachhead and bailed out, landing on both sides of the front. All escaped capture and were returned to duty. 1 WIA, 9 RTD Note: The downing of this ship became the infamous Luftwaffe Ace Col Josef "Pips" Priller's 100th Victory. Since the 858th was going to be cut from the Group four days later, this plane was not replaced at the 858th.
