Crash-landed at the Malmö Military Airport, Sweden on the Politz Mission, 29 May 1944. Its crew, some of whom were wounded, was interned in Sweden : Pilot John C. Forsyth; Co-Pilot George Burroughs; Navigator Francis R. Giardiello; Bombardier Jack W. Hayden; Radio Opeartor Robert W. Meads; Top Turret Gunner Harold N. Rhodes; Ball Turret Gunner Michael Carrigan; Right Waist Gunner Charles R. Kellis; Left Waist Gunner Richard Sawyer and Tail Gunner Joseph P. Mulqueeney. Missing Air Crew Report - MACR 5216. Initially named "NANA", it had the name "SALVAGED SALLY" painted on in Sweden after repairs using tails of 492nd BG, 858th BS, 44-40103 SAY WHEN (9A M-) and parts of other B-24s. It left Sweden for England on 7 July 1945.
