West of Texel, Netherlands 4 March 1943 On 4 March 1943 B17- 42-5370 crashed into the North Sea west of the island of Texel. 9 airmen perished and 1 airman survived. The plane had been attacked by German fighters. The target of the bombing raid was the marshaling yards in Hamm.
