Magnuson; Co-pilot: Theodore G. Lauterbach; Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Albert E. Smith; Radio Operator: Vernon A. Jensen*; Right Waist gunner: Joe C. Ferguson; Left Waist gunner: Leo C. Rossi; Tail gunner: Ira W. Parker Jr*; Navigator: Raymond E. Horne Jr*; Bombardier: Raymond L. McKee*; Ball turret gunner: Laurence H. Meidl (Killed in Action) - (* = all from 463rd BG); gas leak #2 tank, six chutes seen, crashed near Cerknica and Postonja, Slovenia. Freeman's book has "cr Nova Mesto", which is wrong. "Nova Mesto" was the place above which Rossi mentions he bailed out and it should be spelled Novo Mesto, about 70km East of the "Cerknica" mentioned as crashing location by Vernon Jensen. Seven men managed to evade capture and 2 were POWs : Raymond Horne and Raymond McKee. Missing Air Crew Report 3253. SAD SACK.
