Assigned to 854BS, 491BG, 8AF USAAF. Failed to Return (FTR) Hanover mission; downed by flak over Russelheim, Germany, on 24-Aug-44. 3 x POW, 6 x KIA. MACR 8296

Crew: 2Lt Norman Rogers, 2Lt John Sekul, F/O Haigus Tufenkjian, Sgt William Dumont
Sgt Thomas Williams, Sgt Elmore Austin (6 x KIA), S/Sgt Forrest Brininstool, Sgt William M Adams, Sgt Sidney E Brown (3 x POW).

The crew, with the exception of S/Sgt Brininstool, were subject to a severe beating at the hands of a civilian mob in Russelheim. Sgt's Adams and Brown, having been left for dead, escaped for four days before becoming POW's.
