A B-24 Liberator (serial number 41-28861) nicknamed "Burma Bound" of the 451st Bomb Group, 15th Air Force, with a smoking engine as a result of a direct flak hit during a mission over Munich, 1944. Printed caption on reverse: '62011 AC- The number four engine (far left) of BURMA BOUND, a Consolidated B-24 Liberator of the 15th Air Force, was hit by flak as the plane returned from blasting a target at Munich, Germany. It limped homeward on three engines. December 1944. US Air Force Photo.' Handwritten caption on reverse: '#1 smoking, #4 feathered, 451 BG, 727 BS Munich, got home Burma Bound Dec 44.'
