Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, UK 4 March 1944 Crashed into sea about 15 miles east of Clacton-on-Sea, Essex after running out of gas. Returning from an aborted mission the pilot discovered that the hydraulic system was out of order. Not able to belly land with a full load of bombs still aboard the aircraft headed towards the North Sea while already low on fuel and eventually crashed into the sea after all crew members had bailed out safely.
