Delivered to No 45 MU 4-12-42, transferred to No 9 MU 6-12-42, loaded aboard SS 653 19-1-43, shipped to Gibraltar 6-2-43, ferry flight NW Africa 28-2-43, assigned to 4FS, 52FG, 12AF USAAF, Taxiing accident Gedina Tunisia, Cat 5 damage, pilot Lt Maurice R Blais KIA, 16-4-43. Lt Maurice Blais, was killed while taking off from Le Sers airfield. As Blais was heading down the strip, his Spitfire became stuck in a gravel bank made by a grader. A cloud of dust covered him, and Lt Philip J Fox, not seeing him, proceeded on his take-off. His wing hit the cockpit of Lt Blais A/C knocking him unconscious, and Lt Blais died on the way to the hospital. A/C Written Off DBR.
