F-5B-1-LO 42-67362 was assigned to the 7th Photographic Reconnaissance Group, 13th PR Squadron at Mount Farm, UK. The aircraft, piloted by 1LI Clark C. Hawes, was despatched on a photo recce sortie to France. The aircraft sustained a runaway prop shortly after take-off. Pilot attempted to return to base but runway was obscured by haze. He then attempted a landing at RAF Bradwell Bay, but landing gear failed to deploy and he made a wheels up landing. Aircraft was Damaged Beyond Repair (DBR) and was salvaged. 1LT Hawes was OK and RTD.
