P-47C-5-RE was assigned to 4FG/335FS at Debden, UK. On 9-Sep-43 while being flown by 1LT Frank M. Fink it developed engine trouble near Paris on a mission to escort bombers to that target. The aircraft was abandoned by 1LT Fink and he was captured as a Prisoner of War (POW). No MACR was issued for this loss.
