The B-24D, "Li'l Jughaid", 42-63758, was in the 9th Air Force, the 98th Bomb Group, and the 415th Bombardment Squadron and flew on the large bombing mission to destroy the oil refineries at Ploesti, Romania, piloted by Lt. Robert G Nicholson. Returned safely to Libya. 2 WIA. - Aug 1, 1943



On a later mission over Sicily, "Li'l Jughaid" failed to Return (FTR), piloted by Richard F Chancellor. Sicily. Sep 15th 1943, - MACR 650.

Says it flew in North Africa with Benny and was eventually assigned to 389th as a hack and later as a form-up ship. He thinks it was originally with another group (possibly 376th or 98th).'
