A P-47 Thunderbolt aircraft of the 56th Fighter Group (named "Belle of Belmont") - denoted by the distinctive red painted nose of the aircraft. This P-47 is carrying drop fuel tanks which were jettisoned by the pilot when empty. The tanks increased the operational range of the fighter aircraft. Handwritten on slide:"63FS Brown/AFA"
