42-92719
Lost on 13 April 1945, near the Rhine River. The aircraft was flying in formation with five other Skytrains when they encountered low cloud and bad weather. Forest H Hickman, a pilot in a nearby aircraft reported that the clouds were so low, they were covering the tops of hills in the area.
42-92719 was last seen flying in formation by Hickman when he climbed rapidly to avoid a hill, after climbing above the overcast cloud layer, the aircraft could not be seen and radio contact could not be made. Another pilot in the flight reported seeing a plume of black smoke close to where Hickman last saw 42-92719.
All of the crew and passengers were killed in action.
