Delivered Cheyenne 26/3/44; Kearney 13/4/44; Grenier 29/4/44; Assigned 526BS/379BG [LF-Q] Kimbolton 18/5/44; battle damage over Cauvincourt, Fr, 8/8/44 with Chas Greenough, Co-pilot: Wallace Richard, Navigator: Joel Stephens, Bombardier: Bob Johnson, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Roy Reed, Radio Operator: Howard Dempsey, Ball turret gunner: Joe Rixon,wg- Chas Danforth,Tail gunner: Herb Peterson (9 Returned to Duty); crash landed near front line in France, all OK. No MACR.

  • Kimbolton

    Military site : airfield
    Planned for RAF use, Kimbolton airfield was built by W and C French Ltd. in 1941. The airfield was increased in size to accommodate a full US heavy Bomb Group, and the first such unit to us it was the 91st Bomb Group, who arrived in September 1942....
