*In the MACR, it is stated by observers that the aircraft was hit by some kind of "rocket" shortly before bombs away. The aircraft was believed to have crashed over Berlin, not Russia. Some of the airmen were taken prisoner by Germans, but almost all were picked up by Russian front line troops shortly after.
