Assigned to 505FS, 339FG, 8AF USAAF. Transferred to 336FS, 4FG, 8AF USAAF. Failed to Return (FTR) freelance mission to Praha Area, A/C struck by flak while strafing Pilsen Airdrome. Losing glycol, A/C abandoned after entering an uncontrollable dive to starboard. Pilot Lt Robert O Davis baled out and seen to to land safely, making for a nearby wooded hill, died later that day, cause unknown. KIA. MACR 13922.
